(Suppose to be) My 4th concert - Maroon 5

[Updated 10:55PM]
Due to unforeseen of unwanted circumstances, I was at the very last minute unable to attend Maroon 5's concert. I am very heart broken and disappointed at the moment T_T

Oh yeah!!! It's happening today and I am so there at Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil for the 3th time on my 4th international rock concert.

Maroon 5 is just phenomenal. Ever since they start to sing Songs About Jane, It Won't Be Soon Before Long till they get their Hands All Over everybody, and tonight, they'll be having Malaysian's hands all over them, haha.

I can't wait to sing along to their songs like 'Harder to breath', 'She will be loved', 'This love', 'Won't go home without you', 'Misery' and many many more. I just hope that I can remember the lyrics to those songs, haha.

It's weekend people! Go out and have fun, Carpe Diem!

Below are the previous concert that I went before. Were you there?
  • MTV presents Good Charlotte: Good Morning Revival (April 21, 2007)
  • My Chemical Romance: The Black Parade World Tour (December 9, 2007)
  • Paramore: Brand New Eyes World Tour (October 19, 2010)

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

Movie Review: Thor (2011)

Thor-riffic! 7/10

After watching this spectacular superhero film, I bet for a long time being, you will remember who is Chris Hemsworth. I'm not just talking about his figure that made the girls drool and the guys envy, but also on how great is his acting in the film.

Egoistic, arrogant and fill with self confidence young brat to a loving compassionate warrior that he turns out to be, you can't help but just to admire how great he carries the character of Thor. When it comes to acting, Anthony Hopkins is the legend that should also be recognize in the film, he is truly in the league of his own - marvelous.

Great acting pair up with great visual effect never failed to produce a great outcome. At some point of time, you'll just be mesmerize by how creative these people are in portraying world that is just way beyond our imagination.

All in all, Thor is simply the best superhero film yet in 2011. The story was pretty much straight to the point with very few element of surprises, but the great acting by Hemsworth and Hopskins basically covers all the weaknesses of the film.

This movie will somehow be related to Iron Man in the future. As far as I know, the next Iron Man movie will be a sequel to another 4 movie. Correct me if I'm wrong but it sure sounds interesting!

*Do not leave the cinema when the credits start rolling. Wait for another short scene after that.

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

I AM

I am: yet what I am none cares or knows,
My friends forsake me like a memory lost;
I am the self-consumer of my woes,
They rise and vanish in oblivious host,
Like shades in love and death's oblivion lost;
And yet I am! and live with shadows tost

Into the nothingness of scorn and noise,
Into the living sea of waking dreams,
Where there is neither sense of life nor joys,
But the vast shipwreck of my life's esteems;
And e'en the dearest--that I loved the best--
Are strange--nay, rather stranger than the rest.

I long for scenes where man has never trod;
A place where woman never smil'd or wept;
There to abide with my creator, God,
And sleep as I in childhood sweetly slept:
Untroubling and untroubled where I lie;
The grass below--above the vaulted sky.

Oreo Oh Cardio!

A week absence from the gym really made a huge downhill on my performances with the machine. I was tired and stopped before I reached the usual time that I have set for myself.

It was there written on my goal for 2011, to lose weight and I didn't really prepare any workout plan in order to achieve that goal.

My normal BMI would be 60kg, according to my height and age. I have no idea yet what is my exact current weight (will try to find out before the next update), but I do know that I need to lose around 10kg in order to have a normal BMI.

I don't really like to post about me going for any workout, I like to keep it discreet. Maybe I'm just afraid that I would be ashamed if I didn't manage to accomplish anything at the end of the day, but I guess its time to overcome that fear and start to walk the walk.

So I decided to post weekly updates about my workout routine and hopefully the world can help to keep track on my performances too. I hope with the pressure that I created for myself I would be able to push myself harder in trying to achieve my goal.

I've created a tracker so that everyone could monitor my weekly exercise result. You can see all the cardio workout is there and not much on weight lifting.

Well, I wanted to lose weight and avoid the typical 'pindik-pindik tagap' stereotype for a Sabahan guy, haha. Anyway, 2011 is going to be an awesome year!

PS: Feel free to give any suggestion of what kind of workout plan or exercise that I could tryout in order to lose weight effectively. Thanks in advance.

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

I Hate Monday, but Why?

Happy Monday people! Yup its Monday again and me, unlike any other normal people, I will always love Monday =) It's a brand new day, a brand new start... what is there not to love about?

Why do you need to be so negative and keep whining about Monday blue or I hate Monday or proclaim that Monday is the worse day ever?

Is it your own opinion or thought that created a horrible Monday as the most dreadful day to go through, or is it just because it has been a saying that people has been passing it down since ages ago?

Either way, its just another pathetic thought about Monday, and as a result, you are just creating space to accept negativity and ensuring yourself to be unable to enjoy what life has to offer for you.

Monday itself is just a word, a term to use to identify one of the 7 days in a week. What lies beyond that word is entirely fueled by your own thought, and whatever the outcome for that day; it is entirely under your control. It was never the other way around.

So if you are sick and tired of sick and tired of Monday, then start to change your mindset. You control your own thinking and not your thinking that controlled you. Be positive about your day and be excited to explore what today's mystery has install for you.

Stop complaining and start doing some changes!

Really... I don't mind if once in a long while you feel dreadful about going to work or study on Monday, I had my lazy Monday too... but if the same thing happened every week and you keep nagging about how suck Monday is, and if your life had a face, I would punch it!

Enjoy your day people! Haha...

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

My Many Names

I was never the cool kid back in school. I am short, fat, ugly and ermm... was I a nerd too? So ya basically in high school I get a lot of name calling, good one bad one.

Oh well, that was my past, haha. Now everyone is just too busy with life to figure out a new one for me.

So here are the 3 most memorable name calling that 'friends' has given to me.

#1. Doraemon
Like I said, I'm short and fat. Just like Doraemon who has a short leg and look all rounded, haha, I so wish I have that magic pocket of his :P

#2. Jurulatih Ansai (Coach Anzai)
It's a character from Slam Dunk, the coach for the Shohoku's basketball team. He's fat but he's wise and a good strategist.

#3. Fei Mao
Haha, this didn't last long but I know I was called by it before. It's a character from a TVB drama series, which I don't remember what's the name of the series, but he's a mentally challenge fat dude and a lot of crying involved in the drama.

Well, I guessed those are some of the most memorable one. Now people just call me by Daniel or Lonewolf or U'. I was fortunate that the name that was given to me is not as harsh and insulting as some of the kids has.

To me, name calling will happened, its just how you take it and how you deal with it. You need to learn to be focus to your purpose and identity that you wanted to be in life.

Overcome those obstacles that's stopping you and pulling you down. Be strong.

I said it will happened but that doesn't mean I wanted to be the one that allow or make it happened.

Respect others!

Happy Good Friday everyone!

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

Fridge Magnet

I started to collect fridge magnet since the beginning of this year. Nothing intense, its just a casual hobby for me. Thanks to Chegu Carol for inspiring me with her own collection of fridge magnets.

Finally I have something to ask for every time when a friend is going to oversea *grin*.

I have collected many stuff before in the past, because I wanted something to be able to make me remember about them - my friends, or even strangers that was once significant to me.

I have like a treasure box back in my hometown, where I keep all those stuff. Mails from my pen pal, birthday cards, some broken stuff, birthday gift and some that I can't remember.

Sometimes, at the end of the day I will take out that box and just walk down memory lane. Remembering those friends that is still and was apart of my life. Wondering will I ever meet them again...

Fridge magnet is cool in many ways but most importantly, it could help me to remember them in the future :D
  1. Paris, France, given by Cindy. Her first visit to France.
  2. Taiping Zoo, Ipoh, given by Andrew. Its our New Year 2010/2011 trip with Sheyvin, Antonia and Yee Seng. Also my first time in Ipoh, Perak.
  3. Kyoto, Japan, given by Pierre. Its his family trip to Japan during Chinese New Year.
  4. Shanghai, China, given by Mikhal. She went there for a short semester just to learn Chinese.*
  5. Shanghai, China, given by Antonia. Her first visit to China.
  6. Hanoi, Vietnam, given by Yee Seng. His first visit to Vietnam.
  7. Praha, Czech Republic, given by Hsieh Ying. Her first visit to Europe and also her first gift to me, haha.
*Wronged info corrected, haha.

Movie Review: The Roommate (2011)

Bored to Death! 2/10

This is the first Hollywood debut for the director Christian E. Christiansen, and sadly to say its nothing impressive and it bored me to the death!

It's suppose to be a thriller movie but end up I was fast asleep and woke up without even missing anything cause the movie is just plain boring, no action, no suspense, no nothing.

If you really decide to watch this just because of the hot babe and the sexy guy from Burlesque, then you better just download it and watch it at home so you can press that fast forward button.

I do have to give credits to Meester for he performance as the paranoid and obsessive roommate. Other than that, nothing much to say about the movie itself except the fact that its good for sleeping therapy.

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

Movie Review: Rio (2011)

Originally Funny 7.5/10

At first I was reluctant to watch this movie but after watching it, I can say I am far off from being regret.

The story was predictable but how does the story goes is really the actual fun and colorful part. The whole animation is just colorful to watch, in many ways it does cheer you up!

I love all the original jokes in the movie, seriously it will make you LAUGH OUT LOUD! The combination of Will.I.Am and Jamie Foxx is the most awesomeness, and you can't stop laughing every time the duo showed up.

A lot of epic moment in the movie, its not memorable but its sure is laughable. All in all, Rio is a chillax movie with great laughter to just hangout with your fiends.

Nasi Lemak

Yes, Nasi Lemak is the Malaysian local food, which everyone love to have it as breakfast, and for most of the time it's cheap!

I think I can eat Nasi Lemak everyday just to save up some money, but the thing is... its "lemak", FATtening! Unless I only consume 1 meal a day, maybe that ought to balance up the equation.

Any how, its almost at the end of the month already and yes yes yes... salary is coming in real soon... My pay was increased from the previous one I had. So I kinda excited to find out how am I going to spend that extra cash, haha!

I really need to save up and buy a car, walking is making me really tired nowadays. Very time consuming and limited places I can go. Unless the Malaysian government improve the public transports, then I might just stick with that, haha.

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

Data Entry Misery

I have been doing data entry for most of my working career, I love it at first and now I just can't really stand doing it any more.

I had to do data entry for this week because its a part of my training, and like it or not endurance sure is a pain in the neck. I am really bored of doing data entry and my eyes is just so tired by looking at the screen the whole day.

Data entry is the most basic and most easiest job ever. All you need to do is copy and paste, and to ensure you master the higher level of data entry, you need to know all the shortcut keys. You need to be very alert with every information that you see, memorize and key in correctly.

Practice will help you master the keyboard. I can close my eyes and type now but I can't tell you which letter is next to which letter, haha, I type by instinct I guess.

After awhile, everything will become mechanical and you know everything by heart already whether you typed the right thing or you had made a typo.

Being repetitive somehow became boring for me, I really don't enjoy doing just only data entry. I really hope this week will gone by really soon, so I can start doing something else.

Before that, I just had to stuck with copy paste and type type type.... Urgh!

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

I Wanted To Be A Writer

Happy weekend people! Time do flies when you're having fun and its already mid April... didn't we just celebrated New Year not long ago? Sigh.

Looking back into the past 3 and a half month, I don't think that I have missed out much. I'm still working on a few issues in my life but mostly I am really happy with the way things turn out to be.

Finally I start working already, I am happy with my new workplace, and I am expecting more great things to happened in the near future. Somehow I can see myself go far in this company, its not rocket science but it still very much need the effort and determination to get the job done.

So ya, about the post title... I wanted to be a writer! I don't know what kind of a writer but I am pretty much sure that I wanted to write stories. It's always been something that I wanted to try, cause I always have this vast imagination going on in my head, and sometimes the most perfect story on earth can only happened in our head.

I just wanted to learn how to transfer those stories inside my head onto writing on a paper or typed it out onto the computer. Stories of imagination is always like a dream, it happened so real and yet when you woke up, you will only have a few moment to remembered about the dream and after that, its hard to recall it back.

Well, post it in the blog is always a good try. Let's see what can I come up with soon :D

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

Movie Review: Red Riding Hood (2011)

Disappointed 3.5/10

After having such a high expectation of what creative idea and twist that they could bring to such a legendary fairy tale, Red Riding Hood is by far the movie with the biggest disappointment in 2011.

As a dark fantasy film, this movie is lack of everything. It's like watching Twilight without Edward Cullen, and with only Bella in the movie, the story is about how lost a teenage girl can be. Boring!

No suspense, no fresh idea, no twist, no teenager's appeal and the only great thing about the movie was the trailer. The story as a whole is really a big flop.

It is still watchable but please do not go into the cinema with any high expectation at all just because of the title. If you ever do watched it, let me know if you agree with me or not.

I really hope someone will remake this film in the future with more Grimm's element in it.

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

Insidious Me

Every now and then I think of you,
mostly that's the only thing I can do.
Infatuation seems so harsh on me,
love is somehow just too far from reach.
You were always there but I am not.
I wonder when is this going to end?
Living in reality is such a pain.
Oblivious trust toward what was told,
verdict of fools is the one I hold,
Each day I make believe that I am yours.
You of course will never notice,
out of the dust I am no different.
Until tomorrow ends,
every moment I love you.

Movie Review: Limitless (2011)

Am on High 6/10

This movie is anything but logic and logic is dull. Neil Burger has every right to make the visual effect with such ecstatic flair. It's fresh and it brings out the best element for the movie.

It's not an epic movie but it's good enough to get you high and imagine what can you really do if you are able to get a 100% access to your brain.

Great performance by Bradley Cooper. You can really see the protagonist's transition from the beginning until the very end of the movie and Cooper is such a charmer. Then there's the legendary Robert De Niro, which he's presence itself already bring such a huge impression in the movie.

All in all, this sci-fi fantasy movie brings out the question if the possibility for such event to take place and what would one really do about it. Its fun to watch and it just wants to make you get high, haha.

Movie Review: Love And Other Drugs (2011)

Watchable 4.5/10

I was kind of lost there trying to figure out where is this romantic comedy is going to lead us. It has a little bit of everything from every direction and somehow it became a good movie with no specific direction at all.

After watching this movie, its hard to deny that the chemistry between Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway as a romantic couple is anything but a flop. The script between them are sexy and smart - refreshingly adult.

Its just that all the character in the movie is not well build and somehow you don't really notice much about the character's transition in the movie.

It's a movie that could have been great but somehow settling at the level where it is now, it's still consider watchable. There were scenes that could be emotional at some point and at the end of the movie, you'll be left with a love hate situation with the ending.

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

Infatuated

I can't focus. I can't even finish half of my normal routine in the gym. I just don't have the heart to run, I don't have the heart to do anything at the moment.

I hate this feeling. It was suppose to be only temporary, but how come it's still here? How did it even get to where it is today? Sigh, I have no one to blame but me.

Having a holiday for a month don't really help at all. There's just too much time to think, to ponder and to wander to places that I shouldn't have.

Some how, jealousy creeps in, and again I wasn't suppose to feel that, because it was suppose to be only temporary. It was suppose to go away.

I was thinking what I should do and how should I do it, but everything just doesn't feel right. I just wanted to end everything in silence and move on, but then again, it just doesn't feel right.

Time will make everything go away, but that's what I told myself when I believe all this was suppose to be only temporary. How much time does it really need to take for it to go away?

I can't wait to occupied myself with work and classes. It almost work last time, before I got retrench and having extra space in my thoughts to be filled with what was suppose to be temporary. Argh!

Dan, don't be sadden. It's normal for people to go through it once in their life. I know what you would tell others to do and I know you wouldn't do according to your own advice, but for the moment, just play nice and be yourself. Don't push yourself so hard to forget because it is only meant to be temporary and it will go away soon. Be strong Dan... be strong.

Movie Review: Source Code (2011)

Must Watch 8/10

It's one of the best sci-fi thriller to date. The story line, script and acting is just remarkable and cleverly constructed. Great directing by Duncan Jones and outstanding performance by Jake Gyllenhaal.

I love the story line the most, where mysteries keeps coming in, even until the end of the movie. They even manage to keep the suspense going, even though it keeps repeating the same moment of the event, you will not be bored by it. It is a very solid and well written movie.

Gyllenhaal manage to humanize his character beyond the level best, and through out the movie you can't help but to ask the same, is it right or wrong and where is the morale boundaries when it comes to such situation.

Human values became one of the great driving force for movie, and it turns out to be a heart warming and compelling movie toward the end.

All in all, its a must watch movie for 2011. It's an overall well written and cleverly constructed sci-fi thriller movie with great performances by the cast.

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

What Are Words?

by Daniel Chiam

What are words if we only says it but never mean it?

What are words if we only promise but never keep it?

What are words if we only express it during the good time and are torn during the bad time?

I am very much moved by the lyric of the song 'What are words' by Chris Madina, knowing the story behind those lyric, I can't help but to think how important is each and every word that the mouth uttered.

Every word spoken is like a promise, a conviction that we express from the inside out to other people. Sadly nowadays, we abuse most of our spoken words for our own sake. Not many of us really mean everything that we have said.

We tell people what they wanted to hear just to get the result that we wanted to have. Most of the time we just don't realize how much weight does a word mean and we just taken lightly for everything that we said.

Friends made promises, couples says 'I love you', husband and wife made a vow, but how many of us can really stand by those words that we have said to one another during the bad time? Can we really live up to everything that we have said?

The truth is, we'll never know until the time has come and we need to make our choices. One thing thats for sure, is that it's not going to be easy.

We can always find strength from the reason why we said those things from the beginning. Let your reason be right and your strength will be limitless.

All that have been said, I just wanted to remind myself that words cannot be simply said because every word uttered, it always comes with a responsibility. How you choose to carry that responsibility, will determine what kind of person you are.

In The Name Of Love

by Daniel Chiam

Sometimes, I really think that a person can do anything in the name of love.

Swim through the ocean of fire, catch a star in the sky, cut my heart out for you, and a whole bunch of exaggeration from songs lyric.

In reality, its just the extent of what you are willing to do for the one you love.

Work hard to earn money, lose weight, learn to cook, give up smoking or whatever it is that she/he wanted you to do.

I guess in relationship, we'll always end up becoming what the other half want us to be without losing parts of who we really are, which most of the time I don't think that its a bad idea in general.

The deeper your love for that someone, the more impossible things in you that you will try to made possible, because in the end, you just wanted to impress and to make that person happy.

Love will conquer all. True?

Movie Review: Just Go With It (2011)

Watchable 4/10

A romantic comedy which sets quite a predictable story line. Aniston and Sandler is pretty much comfortable in what they do best, and the movie is just like a walk in the park for them with not too much effort to try and make the movie really funny.

There was moment here and there that make you genuinely laugh, and you can't deny that the presence of Nicole Kidman does bring additional spice to the movie. It's been awhile since you last see the silly funny side of her in any movie.

Overall, its a typical Adam Sandler's movie. Great cast, great acting but it's always come short in delivering out the best of the movie as a whole, and when it involved kids, you'll see family value in there somewhere.

Not a movie to be wowed, but good enough to fill in a Saturday's night slot for a chillax moment with a little laughter and mushy feeling for the day.

Until next time, see you around my friend =)
