A short conversation was sparked between Henry, Ken Wooi and me because of the tweet above. Actually, as long as it is cleaned, it's not a big deal at all which methods are you using. At least that's what I thought, but growing up it's kind of a big deal of which method am I using.
I was caught off guard when a non-Chinese friend asked me how do I clean my bum; water or tissue? I'm a skeptic, so I think hard before I answer (you know how high school is, almost every questions asked by your friends is definitely a trick questions), and I said "tissue". He laughed at me and said it doesn't really clean everything and said that I am a typical Chinese.
So during Chinese New Year when I went for reunion dinner with my dad's side of the family (which is the most Chinese side of the family tree), I happened to do my business in the toilet and was using the water to wash my bum clean. I came out and my aunt asked me, am I using water instead of tissue, I said "yes" and she said something (that I can't seems to recall what), that gives me the impression that Chinese should really be using tissue instead of water.
Perhaps its because the Chinese invented the paper and it is expected for the Chinese to use tissues instead of water and on the other hand, the Chinese pride makes it mandatory for us to use paper in everything possible, just to show how proud we are with our invention. Oh well, I'm a hybrid, sometimes I care less about those pride.
Today I just use whichever that could cater to the situation. I am comfortable with both; water or tissue, as long as it cleans my bum. Till this day, I really don't see the significant of the question asked. Unless you are really campaigning for Go Green, Save the Tree, Save the Clean Water or else, just let it be.
So which do you prefer; water, tissue or both?

ReplyDeletei never used tissue for this kind of business, because my primary school teacher said tissue only cleans the visible stain, while the bacteria still stick on ur bum, & will cause infection to skin & the system down there (especially females), so use water. so i prefer water..hehe
ReplyDeleteI always find this question funny because no matter what answer you say, people will always argue. So the best is just say how you do it, and tell them, ikut suka hati ko la macam ko mo lap ko punya ass. Hahaaha.
