[Movie Review] Bait (2012)

by Daniel Chiam

Decent Jaw Dropped ★★★★☆☆☆☆☆ 4/10

The movie is about a bunch of strangers who was trapped in a supermarket after a tsunami waved and along with it was the two white sharks. They need to find ways to survive the sharks and also a way out to search for help.

The idea for the movie is interesting. It has been awhile since I last saw a nice shark thriller film after the ever so famous Jaws. The story line was good with a few sub plots going on to spice up the main plot and made it more interesting. Tho I find some of the sub plots is emotionally weak.

Acting was decently acceptable, sharks was brutal and overall it almost became a superb and exhilarating shark thriller, but I do feel that the movie was fall short of quite a lot of suspense moments. It doesn't really gives me that anticipation or the thrills about the existence of the sharks at all. Somehow, most of it is just very much predictable.

Overall it is still a very decent movie to enjoy. It doesn't play much with your adrenaline but it still deliver a breathe of relief for the film genre. A good date with popcorn but definitely not a date I'm willing to go twice.
