Kotobian Tadau Tagazo do Kaamatan 2012

It means 'Happy Harvest Festival 2012', its the time of the year where all the Sabahan celebrates the sacrifice that Huminodun has made in order to save the villagers from starving to death. If you happened to be in Sabah during the festival, you'll know how happening it is throughout the month of May!

Read more about the backgroud of Kaamatan HERE.

The climax of the celebration is always on the 30th and 31st of May and it always take place at KDCA, Kota Kinabalu. I don't always get a chance to be there for the celebration and the last time I was there, I was selling off my 'I ♥ Keningau' and 'I ♥ Sabah' t-shirt, haha.

All I know about the place during Kaamatan is that its crowded with sea of people, most importantly its where you get to see most of the lovely and beautiful Sabahan girls. People in their traditional outfit, foods everywhere. Not sure about the tapai (traditional rice wine) and booze but assuredly it's not something too difficult to find during that season :D

If you really want to visit the most exciting time in Sabah, then I strongly suggest to visit during the month of May; where every district, every town and everywhere you go, it will not be lack of celebration. Yes, Kaamatan is like Christmas and Hari Raya combined celebration in Sabah.

My lil' cousin (right). Oh how much she has grown xD

Happy Kaamatan to my fellow Sabahan! Don't drink too much and drive xD

The Paradigm Incident

Haha, it all started off yesterday when one of the staff from Paradigm Mall replied the comment left in their Facebook page. It went viral when, well some people thought that the reply was rude and unacceptable. To me, it's just a sarcasm went wrong xD

Full comments HERE

Well, in all seriousness, when you are in the front line and is dealing with customers personally, you just have to have that professionalism with you. No matter what, don't snap! Just smile and make sure the situation is under control.

In my previous line of work, I have to deal with a lot of people through the phone and not everyone is a happy chap, but a job is still a job and no matter what you still need to get it done with. Perhaps I have the upper hand since its always been my nature to be polite to people, haha.

Well, a lil' sense of humor is good to take the edge off sometimes but just keep your sarcasm and humor to the one you know, and certainly not to your client or customers that you barely know :D

This is epic! Haha.

Enjoy your day people! =)

Just A Random Thing I Do

After my early morning jog today, I was sitting on the park bench and looking up the sky. The early morning breeze is just amazing, and I have always wasted that moment by curling up in my bed all the time. Suddenly the air changes and the breeze became cold wind that blows stronger than before.

The wind carries with it dark heavy clouds, and soon, the dark clouds has conquered the clear sky. I was still sitting there enjoying the wind and think that it could have been awesome if I have a kite with me right now.

Again, I stare into the dark clouds, analyzing whether or not it will rain or its just simply passing by. Thinking that I could be the weatherman or I might posses an ability as similar as Nami from One Piece, which I could predict and foretold the weather condition.

I start throwing logic and analyzing in a way that only I could understand. I concluded that it will not rain, because the wind is blowing strongly and the dark clouds is almost at the end of its souffle.

In the end, raindrops starting to fall bits by bits and I was still sitting there stubbornly, believing that what I've calculated is correct and that its not going to rain and the dark clouds is just passing by. Yes, I must trust myself!

I ended up eating nasi lemak while chilling and enjoying the cold morning rain at the stall nearby. I had to go through the rain after that and reached home in a soaking wet condition. Carpe Diem people!

It's been awhile I wrote something like this xD

When Anything Is Possible - Yohio

I can assure you that this is not just a pretty face. Yohio is a Swedish turned Japanese rocker. Fell in love with  Japanese language and the culture at the age of 10. Since then watch anime and pursue Japan's celebrities and now 16, Yohio is famous among the Japanese rock fans for dressing like a doll and fingers that can work miracle on the electric guitar with voice that doesn't really match that pretty face at all.

Here's the punchline - Yahio is a boy. A 16 year old Swedish boy that dress like a doll, speak perfect Japanese and is now a Japanese rock sensation. Awesome right? Haha. Well it's not something new in the Japanese rock scene if you are familiar with band such as Versailles - which most of the male member in the band is dress up like a doll.

You just have to love Monday! =)

The Start of Week 08

I did well in my workout this week. At least I can feel the difference in my stamina this time. I can ran non-stop for a certain distance now if compare to last time. I hope I can keep up with the training or else I'm going to end the marathon ugly this coming September.

I weight myself just now and its 74KG. Tho I did well, but losing weight is still the main aim here if I really want to win that chunk of money, haha. Going to try and increase more cardio workout for the coming weeks. I can only think of run more...

Why do I even think about joining marathon in the first place xD

Thanks for the support people and enjoy your weekend!

My Favourite Animal Pal in Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted

My all time favourite animal pal in the Madagascar series has always been the secret-agent-like penguins! They are cute and cuddly but at the same time they are genius, well trained agent and are deadly with their fist... err... I mean fins...

From left: Private, Kowalski, Skipper, Rico

Among four of them, Skipper got to be the Tom Cruise in the group. Leader of the pack, the Brain to Pinky (if you know who the heck is Pink and the Brain), the Bruce to the Lee and the peng to the guins.... Always sharp looking in his black and white outfit, unpractical humor and a charm that could melts all the iceberg on the North Pole.

Skipper

Checkout their latest action in the up coming Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted;

Skipper: "These pillows are filled with baby birds!". HAHAHAHAHA... I really can't wait to see the more of these bunch of penguins!

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

Movie Review: American Pie: Reunion (2012)

3/10 Just to complete the series

All the original main cast is once again reunited for what-I-think-is a final showdown for the series, tho the ending might suggest otherwise. Sad to say, not much of hoo haa to cheer about for the reunion. In many ways, the movie does portrait that all of them are already grown up, and they just can't pull off any more teenage humor.

I'm a fan of American Pie, and watching American Reunion is just for me to complete the series. Whether its awesome or just simply not living up to the expectation, it really doesn't matter anymore.

None of it makes much of an impression, although there are a few nice and surprisingly heartfelt moments around the edges.

The Shields of Game of Thrones from HBO

Previously I've joined the Meeples exclusive HBO Game Of Thrones contest to win a 'Game of Thrones: The Board Game' and exclusive HBO Game Of Thrones keychain set for the premiering of season 2 of the series in Asia.

Well, I didn't manage to win the board game which I really wanted to try and play, cause my friend told me that it will take the deceiving and betrayal in board game to another level higher. I did managed to won the keychain set tho!

I love it a lot! It's actually a shield with the sign of each family on it. One of the coolest keychain I have so far.

Movie Review: 21 Jump Street (2012)

5/10 Modern day police comedy

It's nothing like the original 21 Jump Street. Instead of more actions and explosions, it has more comedies for a true follower to handle (which I'm not). It was all good at the beginning but toward the middle of it, the jokes runs dry and thankfully was able to picked up at the end for a more acceptable ending.

The two original actor, Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise made a short cameo toward the end of the show and Depp is all quirky for it, haha.

The film isn't long, but it runs dry at a certain point, and tries to rescue itself by morphing into an action movie, with only middling results.

2D1N at Awana Genting with Bloggers - Day 2: A Day with Leeches

by Daniel Chiam

The Treasure Hunt on day 1 was really fun, but what's install for day 2 excites me the most - jungle trekking!

As a kampung boy from a small town in Sabah, going into the jungle is not something new for me, but I have been absence for long and I miss the presence to be in the mist of mother nature rather than the concrete jungle that I've seen everyday.

Awana Genting Long House

Awana Genting Long House is our meeting place that morning. After a short briefing of what to expect and safety precaution, followed by a warm up session, everyone is good to go into the forest.

Basically there are two trail which are provided - Awana Nature Trail (1.8km) and Eco Trail (3.8km). Our trail that day; Eco Trail - 3.8km walks into the rain forest of Awana Genting.

Crossing the river - like a sir.

It's been ages since I saw a river!
(The last time was back in CNY 2012 at Taiping)

Releasing fishes into the river

Mother nature at its best
It was raining the night before and thus making it a suitable condition for the lil' blood sucker to come out and party in the wild. Leeches every where along the trail and I dislike their presence! -_- I get uncomfortable with them around but these lil' bugger won't stop me from continuing my journey.

Leeches in action! Leg model: Iris from kuromeowiie.blogspot.com

Keep keep bleeding in love

Nisa Kay and Mai :D

Tweeting and updating status is essential no matter when and where

This shoes has never tasted mud before. Well...

Love bites by friendly leeches xD

To commemorate our first pit stop

After enjoying ourselves at the first pit stop and clearing up the leeches that sucking our blood dry, we continued further into forest until we reached our second pit stop and this time, I refuse to let yet another opportunity slipped away from me. I dipped myself into the river! OH SO REFRESHING AND COLD!

The crystal clear water gives me a sense of satisfaction, a clear mind and a feeling of belonging which I have not felt for long. It is as if a burden was lifted up. Oh, how God's creation has greatly blessed me that day.

I have yearn for so long to mandi sungai!
Completing a task given with the teammates

That was our last pit stop before we went up hill (which is very tiring for most of us) to go back to the Awana Genting Long House where we all started. It was a great experience going into the forest. Tho it was quite tiring but for what it has given, it was all well worth it. I really don't mind doing it again!

Before all of us heading back to the hotel for our lunch, we were all required to fulfill our final duty - tree planting! I think Nisa gave a name to our tree, but I can't recall at the moment xD

Fulfilling our social responsibility - tree planting

That was the main event on day 2. I couldn't have ask for anything better, it was all a great experience to hangout with bloggers in the forest and helping each other through out the journey. Urgh, I still dislike leeches tho!

Thank you Awana Genting for this privilege and wonderful experience. If you want to make a reservation or inquiries, please call 03-6436 9000 ext: 7619/53018 for assistance.
